VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Pocket pod geared closer to bassist?

As I guess the honorary champagne post in this forum, I will say that I've used my Line 6 Pocket pod pretty much since Day 1 of re-learning how to play, I've sold it to multiple friends for their guitars, so I am in no way shorting the product, it's great.

I would say though that I would like to see more than 5 bass settings be default, landing it into a pc just to mess with the settings isn't always convenient, and a lot of the settings seem to dredge up a lot of hiss. Also the tuner hates trying to tune in a B, it was not handling that well at all.

Not sure if maybe a patch could just be put out for the Pocket Pods, and make them a little more bass friendly, but that would really round out the product a little more for the bassist.

And side note, make it where it can be used for the online training thing? I'm sure there's a reason it's not on the list, but that'd be a neat bonus.

+1 I too would be very interested in a bass specific pocket pod.

I would rather have a pocket POD that can do both guitars and bass, though I can see the marketing potential of having one for bass only.

I have always thought that Line6 treats bass as an afterthought. They turn out stuff for guitar and that is obviously their main focus. That's fine. There are more of them. Good marketing.

Just wanted to remind the Talkbass community that Rich and I really appreciate this honest feedback about how Line 6 occurs to the bass playing community.

Your comment is precisely the reason that Rich and I pushed to open this sponsored forum, so we can prove to our organization that this perception exists, and then take steps to change Line 6 for the bassists...I mean, for the better. :bassist:

I appreciate it. I hope you continue to push for bass-specific, or at least bass friendly products. I would love something like a Pocket Pod that had a few heads and a few effects. Even better, a Pocket Pod where I could have different loads I could do from my computer at home. A jazz trio load, a funk load, a ock load, etc. That would be really cool.

Would you be able to have a firmware update or some such to have Bass amp modelling for existing Pocket PODs.... that would seem to me to be a way to go, the product exists, it's selling, an update would be cool.

That is an intriguing idea. I am going to look into it.

Are there any bass patches on the Pocket POD? Any bass players use them for practice, and if so, what patches???

I programmed a couple of 'neutral' settings with a clean tone, no cab sim. It's OK nothing to shout about. i use mine primarily for practicing, arranging or transcribing on 6 string electric guitar. I almost always use it with my macbook and Itunes, or Amazing slower Downer. The USB link is handiy to edit the settings for guitar amp sims on the mac. I use an old pair of Senheiser cans.

I use and prefer my Tascam BT for bass, it sounds better for bass through the cans. Hope Line 6 will do an update for bass soon.

I own a pocket pod for my guitars, and would certainly buy a bass specific pocket pod, rather than mess with reprogramming. I've haven't enjoyed messing with line6 online. Love the product though.

I have a clean patch as well, as noted above quite a lot of the settings in the Pocket Pod suck tone, or dredge up too much hiss. I put my little guitar into it though, and it tore that action up. I use mine to inject mp3s or drum lines for practicing or playing along.

I have a Korg PX4B that I like to use for headphone use and when I don't want to carry around my pedal board.

I've looked at a couple of older POD XT's but they are a little too big. What I really want is a bass specific pocket pod that will be quieter than my PX4B, has an intuitive user interface and allows me to load my Bass and FX Junky packs.

Commented again because I could be a little more specific.

Something that I could add to my holiday wish list would be nice! ;)

Thanks!
