Hipshot B Style Bridge

19mm String Spacing

Hipshot UltraLite Tuners

Schaller StrapLocks

Yes, this bass has three pickguards - clear, tort, and parchment. You get all three.

Excellent condition. Aside from the small nick near the bridge (in the third picture), there's no wear significant enough to mention.

The bass is bright and snappy with rounds. I have Sadowsky flats on it now, and it sounds nice, warm, and thumpy. You can do just about anything in between.

#51 is new enough that Nino was using USACG parts, and the neck is the shallow C profile that he's used except for the first few.

Just under 9 pounds on the bathroom scale.

$1900 shipped to the lower 48 United States. No trades, please.

I recently bought an Ibanez SR755. Admittedly, I bought it on the specs without really trying out the bass (internet), but I was motivated by the relatively thin neck and light weight because it is the first 5 string I've owned. It was set up by the dealer with round-wounds.

First thing I notice upon playing is that the bass is very "klanky". It seems that I'm getting a lot of fret noise when pressing down on the strings, especially on the low-B. The noise is not from fret buzz due to clearance, or warped frets; it just klanks, which would be rather unacceptable during performances.

I'm wondering if other SR755 owners (or just SR owners) have had a similar experience, and am looking for advice on how to resolve the issue. Could it be a nut problem (too low), or strings too thick? Is that a common problem on 5 strings?

I'm also curious if other owners have replaced the MK-1's, and if so, with what.

Thanks in advance.

Advice: Changing Band Name

Hey all. I'm currently in a 3 piece rock band. We've been together for awhile and we've managed to build up a considerable following in the area. Our Myspace has over 100,000 views and we've begun the process of shopping to labels.

Additionally, we're currently mixing our debut full length (after releasing an EP) and we've decided that we want to change our name.

Reasons for the name change:

1) We just plain don't like it. It sounds goofy and it makes us seem like something that we're not.
2) It was decided hastily and we never got around to changing it out of laziness; so it's kind of been a long time coming.
3) It has our singer's name in it, which erroneously leads people to believe that he's some sort of "leader" or that he's "in charge." He's not. We write and make band decisions as a group. Even he's annoyed by it.

Is this a good idea or a bad one? The only real qualms I have with it are that it might confuse some of our current fans. I think that we'll be able to make the switch pretty smoothly. Fortunately, we'll be able to keep our MySpace plays/views because they give you the option when you make a MySpace mail account.

What do you think?

I have a 1993 Peavey Fury (p-bass) that someone painted over with silver spray enamel. Under the pickguard, the body has the original white finish. The bass was originally white with a black pickguard.

Project:
Turn this into a black bass with a gold/maple pickguard.
Strip silver spray can color, and leave original white in tact.
Paint over white with black lacquer.
Top coat with clear lacquer.
Repaint pickguard, from black to gold/maple color.

Questions:
What is the best way to remove the silver paint?
Is the original white color poly?
Can I just scuff up the white, or do I have to reprime it before spraying black?
Should I use lacquer black color, and clear lacquer topcoat?
What sanding steps are needed? After each black coat? After each clear topcoat?
How long should it dry between coats?

I've probably missed something important. Feel free to add other tidbits of wisdom.

Hey guys

So last Christmas I got a Dean XM bass as my first bass knowing it was a horrible bass but got it anyways because I just wanted to play bass badly. Six months later the thing breaks, I take it to get reapired, same problem so I put the thing under my bed and soon forgot about it.

A few weeks ago I found it again and decided to swap out al of the parts and get new ones. But I need help with a few things.

1.The bass has a single soapbar pickup that I want to replace with either 2 Jazz pickups (in the same cavity) or a single EMG pickup. Will this work? Will the pickups be big enough for the single cavity or should I get another soapbar size PU(suggestions plz?) Also Id preffer a passive PU over active.

2.New bridge. What should I look for in one? Good brands?

3. Refinishing. The bass came in black but I would love to sand down the finish and maybe give it a natural finish. Im open to other ideas.

Another idea I had was to make the bass as a whole smaller as in scaling the body itself down an inch or two(yes an inch) but only towards the back of the bass. I may also cut a chunk off the lower horn and resand it.

I should also add my budget is around $200. as far as tools go my uncle has a good amount of basic wood cutting tools.I have some experience with a sodering iron but it has been awhile (about 3 months) since i've used one.

Thanks for reading im open to ANY and ALL advice.

I'm trying to get into an EUB for not much money and from the sound samples I have found so far,the Stagg seems to be it.Nice tone, some growl and enough punch for Salsa.
I'm an Electric bass player and I love working on and modifying my basses. What I can't do myself I have a friend who is a luthier help me with.
So I'm curious about what could be done to the Stagg that would improve it.Tuners Pickups Strings etc,
Specifically the finger board.
I read that it is made of white wood(what kind I don't know)and that it is coated with some type of black resin that feels "Plasticy"..
I wonder how durable and how thick that resin is.Would it be possible to strip it and stain it and seal it with tung oil for example to make it feel better?
If the neck ever needed to be worked on I would like to know that I'm not dead in the water because of that finish.
