My Volvo gets me around town as quickly and safely as a Rolls. A Seiko will give you the correct time as reliably as a Rolex. I'd still rather check a Rolex and mash the gas in a Rolls if I'm late to wherever I'm headed- and I expect that a Sadowsky will offer top sonic performance and playability for a longer period of time than a Squier.

Having said that... there's no requirement that a purchase reflect practical judgement, nor should there be- it's perfectly okay to spend more purely for bragging rights.

The Sadowsky preamp was engaged, but the treble and bass were left flat.

I mentioned it this in the other thread, but I guess I should say it again. This is purely for fun. I love listening to sound clips and watching videos. It really can mess with certain preconceptions and expectations on what certain basses sound like.

The Sads are complete package, where each part is perfected - lightweight, playability, note to note consistency, fretwork (my MS5 it is in perfect tune anywhere on the neck from bottom to top) and the preamp which lays the bass into the band context like no other. Some players apprecciate that. :D

Well! I'll be dipped!

I sure hope the Sad plays/feels a lot nicer than the Squier! It had better. And with the preamp kicked in I hope it sounds way better too. Of course, with the Squier, you can just adjust the preamp that's comes with your bass head, or buy a Sadowsky outboard preamp.

At 1/10th the cost; Squier for teh win! IMO/IME
