Righty/Lefty Case Debacle..Bass does not fit case

I ordered a CIJ Fender '75RI and finally got it today. About a week ago I went to GC and had them order me a lefty P/J case. So finally I go to put the bass in the case and what do you know? It doesn't fit. I'm not sure if they sent the wrong case or what. One thing I noticed that kind of gave me a clue it could be the wrong case is because when I put my lefty in there the tuners were not facing up as they should. In this case they were facing downwards, risking possible damage while carrying. Someone tell me what is going on here, is my bass too big? Is this the wrong case? What is the deal?

Here are some pics of a RIGHTY P bass..This bass fits fine

I do know for one thing that Fender Japan makes the 75RI body a bit bigger than any of the US Fenders. I had a MIJ 7RI and went out and bought a 62RI US tweed case for it, and I had to press it into the case, where my Vintage Jazzes and 62RI Jazzes all fit into the case like they noramally would. I measure the 75RI and found it 3/4" overall oversized.

Upsidedown carried basses really havent seemed to be a problem.
